My Path to Eternal Bliss (or Damnation)

I just wanted to share with you a little about myself so you can get a sense of who I am and what this blog could turn into (as of right now just random stuff about my life).

But first I just want to say a huge thank you to my first followers…. Songza Playlists and domvav. Thanks guys!!

So who am I?

Well I am a 28 yr old guy from Nottingham, UK (you know… the place where Robin Hood is from, and before you ask, no I do not know him).

Way back, when cassette tapes where the norm, Pogs where the biggest thing since sliced bread and everyone owned a Yoyo, I was one of those kids who really did not care about my future. My first thought was finish school, get a job, get loads of money and (as poetically written buy those gangster rap gentlemen) get bitches’.

This was fine for a few months, I worked as an electricians apprentice, went to college 1 day a week and I spent my wages at the weekend. (trying to look for those bitches and hoes the rappers where talking about, but I couldn’t find them).

I got bored!

So I changed jobs again, and again and again. This went on for a few years, I just could not get settled into something that I enjoyed.

So what to do now? I was stuck with limited education, living in a council estate with everyone else around me seemingly happy that they are doing nothing with their lives. I wanted out!!

So I went back to college and decided to do something I loved, which was music technology. I enrolled in a level 2 Music Tech course that I loved. In-fact I did so well, that after I finished my year, I was recommended to start a foundation degree (things are looking up I thought)

2 years later and I graduated. I was so happy. The first in my family to do so and on top of that I had met an amazing girl (more about my love life later)

What-is-your-Graduation-Speech

That was over a year ago now, I did not follow the music tech route (very competitive but I still make music as a hobby) I became a deputy Manager of a Charity Fundraising company.

But guess what????

I got bored again!!!!

Same thing day in, day out. Long hours were killing me and I had very limited time to spend with my girlfriend.

Why should I work for “the man” I thought? I was slowly killing myself, physically and mentally.

So I started my own company (I will explain more about how I did this in a later post as I think you are probably getting bored of reading this by now).

Its an online store that sells Designer Toys. You can have a look here if you want www.takaravinyl.com

You will be happy to know that it is going relatively well. Its not making me millions yet, but its something I am enjoying and it has given me more time to spend with my girl.

So what is next?

Well I am going back into education and I have enrolled in a TESOL course to start in September and I will be topping up my degree the following year. My plan is , in two years, move to South Korea and teach english. Its a great way to save some money for the future and I will get to travel.

In the up coming posts I will keep you updated on my progress (if people read this that is)

and thats it.

Thats all I am going to share with the world right now.

If you are still reading this, I just want to say thanks. Either you are very bored and you have exhausted Facebook or you generally enjoyed reading this. For those of you who enjoyed it….. thank you

Until next time..

My Small Linkin Park Collection

My Small Collection

So as I mentioned in my last post, I am a huge fan of Linkin Park and I thought I might share my little collection with you.

I recently acquired a very old record player from my mother in law, which I needed to restore and I decided to by my LP CDs on vinyl.  If anyone is interested it is a National Panasonic 2080 L from the mid 70s.

My first buy was of course Hybrid Theory. I searched the web for the original pressing and came up short (plus they were selling for about £60+ on ebay) so I decided to buy the Record store day exclusive that comes with the 10” single “One Step Closer” which also has the infamous song “My December”. I was so exited when the Postman handed me the package (insert appropriate innuendo here). I ran upstairs to my top floor flat and instantly cleared my ‘busy’ schedule for the next 45 minutes, sat back, and re-lived my angry teenage years, singing along (badly might I add) and waking up my girlfriend in the process.

Hybrid Theory

One of the best things that I might add, is the fact that I had not brought physical music for a long time. This day and age obviously it is a lot easier and cheaper to download from iTunes (or for you rebels out there, any torrent site) but I forgot the feeling of actually holding the record, admiring the artwork, reading the song lyrics and playing it for the first time. That is something you just can not replicate with a download.

After this I wanted more, so I brought the only two albums that I could get my hands on, which were A Thousand Suns and Living things.

Living Things

Now these two albums and the one before it Minutes to Midnight have caused debate among many LP fans and have some what lost them a few. But I want to say that A Thousand Suns is arguably LP’s best work. Yes we all loved Hybrid Theory and Meteora, but there are only so many Nu-Metal/Rap songs you can make before it all sounds a bit boring and repetitive. There new work just shows that they are not afraid to try something fresh. Living Things had some elements of their old material but they still managed to make it sound new. I am curious to see what their new album may sound like. It would be nice to have one or two tracks that sound like the old stuff, or maybe even a bonus track that does not take away from the arrangement.

I also have a few DVDs of theirs which are…

Frat Party at the Pancake Festival

Breaking the Habit (+ Manga)

Collision Course

Making of Minutes to Midnight

Any new stuff I get, I will post at the time.

If you would like to share with me your LP collections then please comment below.

My First Day Becoming a Blogger

I never know how to start these things off so I will just say hi…

Hi everyone, If your wondering what this blog is about then you have asked the wrong person. As of right now I think it might be just an online diary and I will spout out random crap that makes no sense to you what so ever. To be honest this is my first time so if you have stumbled upon this by mistake, and you have the undying urge to comment on how bad my content is (which as of right now is shit) then please be gentle as I am a very delicate human.

As for my interests, I have many. One would say that I am a huge fan of the band Linkin Park (more about them later). My pets consist of a house Rabbit (who chews FUCKING EVERYTHING) and a very tame and docile Beaded Dragon.

I am in a relationship with the most amazing girl in the world, who does not mind my little quirks and keeps me in line. I will tell you all the love story in a later post.

So back to what this blog is all about; well time will tell I suppose, but here are a few things that I wont be doing…..

I will try my best to keep it as entertaining as possible.

I will not post pictures of my food (why the hell do people do this???)

I will not post stupid memes about how single parents are amazing or how having babies makes you special (Im sorry but all you did was have unprotected sex….WELL DONE YOU)

Well guys and dolls I think I will leave it there for my first post.

But just before I go… here is what I had for dinner 3 nights ago…

Love and best wishes
